The camp is built on a plateau well back from the road leading east from Whiterun and is commanded by Hjornskar Head-Smasher. Like all other commanders, he is marked as essential. This camp is never commanded by Galmar Stone-Fist, as he commands the Whiterun Military Camp during the related quest.
Whiterun Stormcloak Camp
If you have completed Joining the Legion, the Stormcloak soldiers will inform you that "You're not welcome here" and warn you to leave. However if you have not completed Joining the Legion or are aligned with the Stormcloaks you will be able to use any of the hay piles in the three small tents around the camp to sleep on.
The camp is arranged around a central campfire with a cooking spit hanging over it. To the southwest is the command tent containing a wooden table in the middle covered by a tactical map of Skyrim showing the progress of the civil war. This is where Hjornskar Head-Smasher, the commander, spends most of his time studying the map. In front of the tent is a banner depicting the bear's head emblem of Windhelm. To the left of the command tent is the commander's sleeping quarters containing an owned bed roll, an end table and an unlocked chest containing minor loot.
There are three small one-man tents containing unowned hay piles; two to the northeast of the campfire and one to the southeast. To the east is the hospital tent containing three hay piles occupied by sick or injured Stormcloak Soldiers. To the left of the hospital tent is a table with an alchemy lab built-in and a low table with a random potion of healing and a random potion of health on top. Two owned horses are picketed behind the hospital tent. There is a wood chopping block north of the fire. Beyond this is an area with a long wooden table and stack of crates laid out with a selection of iron and steel weapons and armor on top. Behind the table, beside a square stone arch, there is a grindstone, a workbench and an anvil . All of the weapons and armor are marked as owned and taking them is considered stealing. Unlike most other military camps, this camp has no quartermaster.
The camp will be removed from the game if the Stormcloaks take control of Whiterun and the hold, If this happens, there will be a hunter's camp here instead.
