Helping Hands

Thanks for getting the vandalism off, and for trying to keep that unrelated info off the article. I'd like to point out to you our Etiquette page, which deals with a lot of situations you may find yourself in. Particularly, it states, "When there is a disagreement over an edit, take it to a talk page. Not everybody knows about Recent Changes or article histories, so edit summaries are not a sufficient means of discussion. It's okay to let an edit you disagree with stand long enough to resolve the debate." Let me know if I can help you with anything else. --GKtalk2me 00:43, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I'm really sorry. I was about to start a discussion before but since it seemed that the anon had stopped to add that note once Wolok had cleared up all the nonsense, I didn't started a conversation. And don't worry it won't happen again, hope this doesn't changes things for bad with the nomination :S --MC S'drassa T2M 00:50, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
This is sort of a special case, since this IP was making clearly vandalous edits immediately prior to this one. Just wanted to point it out, for future reference when the IP isn't quite so clearly a vandal. --GKtalk2me 01:00, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Yep, the problem also is that I had already warned the user, so it wouldn't be right if I were to add another warning. --MC S'drassa T2M 01:02, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
When it says "take it to a talk page", it's referring to the edited article's talk page (in this case Oblivion talk:Helping Hands). If that's done, and the user continues with their actions, it's grounds for a short block.
By the way, have you ever used the IRC channel? It's often invaluable for new/hopeful patrollers, as there are a few experienced users around; good for quick questions that don't really need wiki discussion, just a little guidance. --GKtalk2me 01:14, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
I told GK about the edit war on the IRC, so perhaps you can find it useful as well. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 01:18, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Got it. And I kinda know what it means, for example here, but it seems I got confused with this IP due to the lapse of the edits. And I have tried it, but I got confused among so many channels.I guess I'll read the wiki page here and try it again. After all, I really like to answer questions :) --MC S'drassa T2M 01:24, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Them or Us?

Hey S’drassa! Just a little bit of friendly advice before you break your neck trying to list all Una Armina’s different responses. It might be a better (and less time-consuming) idea if you left that task to the CS people. They can usually add a complete dialogue list in a matter of minutes – like the one on Halion’s page – and add all the bits and pieces that it would take in-gamers like us several weeks to collect. The Shivering NPCs have tons of dialogue compared to the OB NPCs and it is Mission Impossible to write a complete list from the game. They even share personal opinions every time you progress in the main quest and so on – and all these things should be written from the CS – and checked by someone else in the CS. What I am trying to say is this; better spend your time and energy on something that is “possible” to achieve in-game – like schedules, inventories, OB dialogue ect ect – because some of these SI NPCs are waaay too time-consuming for “us”. --Krusty 20:53, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Well, you have made a very good point. It's just that it bothers me to see a page with parts missing, but I guess I'll have to bear it this time since it is really time consuming (the only time that I've found all the oddities it took me about a week). I guess I'll work with the people of Fellmoor instead, luckily I've already extracted some info from Ranarr-Jo and the next one: Kishashi :) --MC S'drassa T2M 21:22, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Congratulations!

Congrats on the promotion and welcome to the team :) Dlarsh(T,C) 07:45, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Congratulations on getting there! Remember, the first beer is on the house. --Timenn-<talk> 08:28, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

You have been given a gold star!

A very shiny congratulations from my part! Welcome to the nightmare! ;) --SerCenKing Talk 08:36, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

More congratulations! I hope you don't regret it too quickly... –rpeh TCE 08:38, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
same here too S'd! Good luck patrolling the site :) -- Jplatinum16 13:07, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

You won. Fair game. Congrats! --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 13:16, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey, congratulations. It's good to see new faces on the team. Although I've not seen you in action much, you must be doing good work to please my fellow scheming evi warm, kind fellow patrollers. Welcome to the team! - GLT|C 15:40, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Thank you all very much! Wow, it's a real surprise, I've just arrived and I found this! I promise I'll make a good work. And I like that nickname "S'd" sound great! --MC S'drassa T2M 16:02, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Congratulations, S'drassa! You've done a good job, and you deserve the punishment recognition.  ;) --68.217.105.135 16:32, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Congrats, S'drassa! Keep them coming! --Krusty 19:46, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Image moving

Hey S'drassa! Just a word about the image moving you've been doing. There's nothing bad in it, but I think it's best left to when we actually have a new image to upload. Mostly to save you the incredibly annoying work of changing links, prodding ect. ;) --SerCenKing Talk 19:06, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I guess I'll just leave it there then. Thanks for the heads up :) --MC S'drassa T2M 19:08, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
No problem. By the way, do you plan on adding any new images? I noticed Elliot kinda gave you a whack (*sigh*) when you tried to upload some. If you need any imaging help feel free to ask :) --SerCenKing Talk 19:10, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Well, the only images that haven't been reverted up to now are the ones of The Great Chapel of Julianos, so I don't think I'll be uploading NPC images, only interiors. Oh, and thanks again for the star, I hope I can make a good work in the future :) --MC S'drassa T2M 19:14, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
There is nothing wrong with moving images prior to have a new one. It is by no means a prerequisite for the "assignment." Feel free to continue doing it, S'drassa. –Elliot talk 21:11, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

......hello....am i doing this right?

I'm new so im not so sure if I'm doing anything right but i read your page and wanna be friends ^_^ I like J'Ghasta because he doesnt use weapons and totally owns you with his hands, and he's.....not-ugly? (awkward silence), how long have you had Oblivion?

Hey there! I see you're having fun with userboxes. Just so you know, it is not a "rule of the thumb" that all the icons have a 30px size, you can add any value you like, lke 50px or 200px. And if you want to link your images from other pages all you need to do is add the URL of the image. Oh and I just acquired the game this year, and I'm quite surprised by the amount of knowledge that I have gained in a few months. A little advice: the site is mainly used to answer doubts that any user may have, but if you want to chat with more people you may want to try out the chatroom, where you can find more people that know about TES --MC S'drassa T2M 03:30, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Hahaha

yes, i am having fun with userboxes, is there a way of replying without making a new section? you know on your page how you put S'drassa's picture as your profile picture and you had the little caption, if you dont mind could you tell me how you did that ^_^

Of course! Well... you can reply any questions by simply clicking on the [edit] link next to the header of any section (like this one), and in order to align my page like that I had to place the userboxes on the right in a table. You can click the edit link on the top to see exactly how it is organized. Oh and I forgot, if you don't really like to chat you can also use forum of the site instead. If you have any other question, you know what to do ;) --MC S'drassa T2M 03:41, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Coo-well, hey I'm like an apprentice and your like the master (thinking out-loud ^_^) I can only get images from this site, but if i get a image from my desktop or something, it doesnt seem to work? I haves i really cool colage i made of every single persons face from cyrodiil and the isles, and i wanna show it! but im not sure how?

If you have the image saved in your documents, you can upload it. And thanks for that, but I'm not really the master, that would be Nephele; sadly she isn't around anymore. Anyway if you have any trouble while uploading the image you know where to find me ;) --MC S'drassa T2M 04:12, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

how exactly do i do all this, if its not to much trouble i need some more help on how to use this ^_^

With uploading images? Well if you mean that, you need to find the image you want to upload by clicking in "browse" then searching for it in the folder where you saved it. You also need to name it, any name will do but don't forget to use the prefix of the form in which the image is stored (such as .jpg, .gif) you will probably be able to see it once you have selected the image (i.e. it will probably say next to "browse" filename.jpg); also,in the summary box you can write a brief explaination of what the image will be used for; and lastly the licensing. Since this will be an image created by you, you don't need to select any. --MC S'drassa T2M 04:43, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

"The file you uploaded seems to be empty. This might be due to a typo in the file name. Please check whether you really want to upload this file.", why is it saying this? im clicking browse and choosing the image from the desktop?Mor'tar'iit 05:14, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, are you uploading it from a folder, such as my documents? Maybe the problem is that you need to extract it from a folder rather than from the desktop. Do you think you could write the filename here, that way I can see if there's any problem with the name of the image too --MC S'drassa T2M 05:21, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

yeah I'm actually getting it from a folder but here: C:\Users\Melody\Desktop\BO\people colage.jpg this is how it comes up after i browse and select itMor'tar'iit 05:24, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

And when does this message pops-up? Maybe you should try to rename the file in the "Destination file" box, but it still needs to have the prefix .jpg when naming it--MC S'drassa T2M 05:29, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

the message comes up after i press "Upload file",, but after i select it from the folder, the "Destination file name" automatically says: People_colage.jpg

Try to upload it again and if the message appears just ingore it (if you can). Maybe it's not a real problem if you upload it with typos in the filename. Let me know if it doesn't work --MC S'drassa T2M 05:44, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Oh, I'm an idiot that just wasted your time, i just realised the picture im trying to upload is 2.99 MB and the maximum size is 2MB,, i'll reduce it and then I'll tell you to look it up, its pretty cool,, itll be called "file:people colage.jpg"

All finished

im done, and my user page is looking pretty good, thanks for helping me through it all, i would have given up by myself ^_^ Mor'tar'iit 07:35, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Where to place "noinclude" tags

You probably don't like hearing from me due to the Patroller conflict (sorry), but I have a lot of experience with templates from Star Wars Fanon. Since signatures are inline templates, the opening "noinclude" tag should be on the same line that the text of the signature is on. Take a look here and here for examples of what should be done. It isn't a good idea to add a break before the "noinclude" tag like you did here. Breaks within signature templates (especially if they don't "subst:" the template) will cause problems within numbered and bulleted lists and such. As seen here, Dagoth Ur, Mad God didn't "subst:" his signature, so adding breaks to his signature would've caused unwanted breaks to appears within some pages. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 00:29, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Don't worry about it, actually that is what's making me work hard with the patrolling assignments! Oh and thanks for the heads up, I'm not really experienced with the templates (and it's really hard to start learning from scratch), but is always good to learn something new :) --MC S'drassa T2M 00:37, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome. I'm not good with the templates here as well; I don't understand any of the custom stuff that Nephele added. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 00:47, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Are you on at the moment?

If your not to busy with more important things, could you look at my page and either teach me or just edit it yourself, so then the pictures arent all in one line going down the page, i want it more neat^_^ if you just edit it yourself i can just look at the keys and commands you typed in in the edit page ^_^ but dont put this in front of anything else your doing, only do it if you have nothing else to do ^___^ Mor'tar'iit 00:50, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Oh, sorry I had to go for a moment. But it seems that Michaeldsuarez has already solved your trouble, though. And there's nothing really important right now, just checking the newest edits and changing them if necessary. As always, if you have any other question feel free to ask ;) --MC S'drassa T2M 01:16, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Coolios, umm, ive been seeing new articles on some parts of western hammerfell and i was thinking if maybe it would be helpful if i added some zoomed in pictures of the areas mentioned, if theres some reason i shouldnt do it, just tell me ^_^ Mor'tar'iit 01:22, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Well since they are new articles they probably don't have any images, so go ahead. And don't worry, since those are helpful images no-one is going to "reclaim" you about it. --MC S'drassa T2M 01:31, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Coo-well ^_^

No problem! Just make sure you know where the images you upload are going to be placed, though. Oh and you may want to take a look at here if you want to know how to improve your images --MC S'drassa T2M 01:38, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Houses & Elven Maiden

The wording of Houses has lead many to believe that NPCs entering their houses on missions or during battle is a glitch, and have said so on at least two talk pages (Houses and Sins of the Father). Wording that prevents unnecessary edits and player confusion is in both UESP and reader's interests.

Elven Maiden, you tell me, 'cause it ain't redundant. I reverted it immediately as I do all reverts with inadequate rationale; feel free to discuss any further concerns here, on my talk page, or on the page Talk. Anarchangel 23:12, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Heheh Sorry

Sorry I thought the image was what the template was referring to and it was forgotten about. Can you please explain what exactly what the template refers to?--Corevette789 04:58, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Oh, sure. The {{NeedsImage}} tag is used when either a new or better image is needed. Although the {{Cleanup}} template can also be placed in the file (not the article itself) and it will give a similar result, marking it as needing a better image to be uploaded. --S'drassa T2M 05:01, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Okay, i thought it just needed an image thanks for clearing that up!--Corevette789 05:03, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Hullow ^_^

Im not sure if this is the appropriate area to ask this question, but what do you think will change about the wiki when "Skyrim" comes out, do you think the google earth styled map of cyrodiil will have skyrim added on? they never put Vvardenfell on it?Mor'tar'iit 09:56, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Of course we would add it, but it would be a separate map. I don't think that there would be a single map for all the games combined. It's a bad idea to have a single map since each game takes places in a different time period, and things change. For example, Morrowind will be destroyed in any sequel due to that lousy book. BTW, here's the Vvardenfell map. I think rpeh handles the map, so you should ask him about it. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 13:30, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Thats a good point^_^ im reding the book and i like it, i think it adds more atmosphere and depth to the elder scrolls, also i like your smilies better so ive been using them ^_^ Mor'tar'iit 01:26, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

I have another question, i hope im not annoying you, is there a way of creating a npc on the pc version of the game, and if there is, can you max out there aggressive-ness and stats like that to make an invincible npc that just kills everyone it sees? Mor'tar'iit 01:26, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

I'm very sorry, but as you can see in my user page I play on xbox = No idea of how to mod Oblivion for PC. If you know a little bit about modding you can take a look at this page for some info on how to mod. Aside from that I'm afraid I don't know anything else. But as an assured answer, yes, you can create NPCs and set their stats as you want to. Oh and BTW, I'm usually inactive from about 4am to 2pm kinda, since I live in another country so at that time I'm resting. --S'drassa T2M 01:34, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Coolios ^_^ Mor'tar'iit 01:52, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

You have been given a cookie!

Your dedication and diligence to the wiki has not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the progress you've made, and has given you a cookie because of it. Good work! The user had the following to say:

You have helped me, a wiki noob several times with dumb questions and have covered up my mistakes several times also, so thanks for keeping me from looking stupid!Corevette789 22:51, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Hey, there's really no problem! I really like to help out in any way I can and whenever you have any question, except about how to write templates ;), feel free to ask. And thanks for the cookie, it was delicious :) --S'drassa T2M 22:56, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Once Again, Thanks

So you no longer have to do this can you tell me how to create links to words like that?--Corevette789 22:28, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Sure :) All you need to do is to add two brackets at the start and end of the lnik you want to create, like this: [[Oblivion:Oblivion]] and it will give this Oblivion:Oblivion. Also, you can change what the link will say by placing a pipe ( | ) after, like this: [[Oblivion:Oblivion|Link to Oblivion]] and it will look like this Link to Oblivion. Oh, by the way, if you want to keep contributing to the Oblivion NPC Redesign Project, you may want to add your name to the page, and don't forget to add your name to the tag in the NPC page. You can open the page of Agarmir by clicking "edit" and see how I added your name to the tag. Also, you may want to check out here to see the "basic" layout of how an NPC article would look like, and here to see how it looks like once it is completed. If you got any question, just ask and I will reply :) --S'drassa T2M 22:38, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

It was bound to happen....

You have been given a plateful of cookies!

Great work and research on the Sanctuary members! I know it takes forever to write "the big" NPC-pages, so you definitely deserve this! Keep up the good work! --Krusty 19:17, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
Hopefully Krusty won't mind, but I felt like I just had to give you a cookie! So 1 cookie + 1 cookie = Plateful of Cookies! And remember: double the number, double the taste! Keep up the great job! --SerCenKing Talk 16:34, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! Yeah, it took me a while to write them all, but now that I see the final work I really think it was worth it. --S'drassa T2M 19:20, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, but....

Thanks for helping with the post-move cleanup for TIC, but it's usually a good idea to wait a bit before starting to propose things for deletion. I just got several edit conflicts while proposing old categories for deletion or trying to create new ones, and it took me a while to work out that you'd done the job first. It's not a problem, but please can you wait a little bit first in the future? Otherwise you end up spending time on something that somebody else was already doing. Thanks. rpeh •TCE 23:56, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Oh, sorry. It's hard to know when someone else is already working on something, and I started creating them since I while I was patrolling them, I saw those non-existen categories so I created them while I was on the move. Hope it didn't cause you too much hassle :S --S'drassa T2M 00:07, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Or, if you like, you can join us in the IRC chatroom, and then we'll know what you're up to! <evil snicker>  ;) --GKtalk2me 00:09, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Absolutely. You are invited into the special chatroom! No need to apologise though - I often forget stuff and need other people to sweep up afterwards! No harm done, but I thought I'd mention it for the future. rpeh •TCE 00:13, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I guess I'll just wait to eliminate the !'s that you place rpeh ;) --S'drassa T2M 00:19, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

if you dont mind

i was wondering if you could give my friend whos signed up "meow" is her name and im not very fit to help her like you helped me when i started up ^_^ ill get her to send you a message, if you cant be bothered then dont worry^_^ Mor'tar'iit 02:09, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

hello

i was ment to sent you a message so hello ^_^ Meow 02:12, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Just Something I'd Like To Say

I'm actually beginning to regret opposing your patroller nomination. You've helped me and loads of other users out in the past and in my eyes, you deserve to be a patroller and I'm sure you'll be an excellent member of UESP in years to come. I will also add that I apologise for opposing your patroller nominations and thanks for helping me and everyone else on the wiki. --ModderElGrande 21:45, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey. there's no need to apologise, really. Oh and as for the nomination, it it already closed with the consensus of support, so yeah I am currently a patroller now. Anyway, thanks for that, I'll do my best to keep helping :) --S'drassa T2M 21:50, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Sorry

Sorry about my little poll thing. I didnt think it would matter if it was on my userpage. I'll go back to the grunt job of fixing bad edits and correcting grammer for now :) --Arch-Mage Matt 01:46, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Sorry if sounded too strict, it was not what I wanted (I actually avoid that), what I wanted to tell you is that here it's not very appropriate to make polls, since they don't help to improve the site. But you should really check out the forum, you can find several entertaining and interesting topics there ;) (If you're wondering how I know, I visit it once in a while) --S'drassa T2M 01:50, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Question

So, what exactly did you do on Morrowind talk:Console‎ ? it just say in the edit summary items not being obtained -> oops and I haven't been able to find any difference.--TheAlbinoOrc 11:29, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Oh, it was the unsigned tag, I forgot to write who placed the commentary. See here I only placed "Unsigned" and the date, while here I wrote the IP adress (24.251.66.123) --S'drassa T2M 15:12, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
That explains why I didn't find anything, I didn't pay much attention to who wrote it. Thanks for clarifying that, S'drassa. Oh, by the way can you do the wizard spells quest for Aryon as a vampire ?--TheAlbinoOrc 15:21, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Well, even though I have never played Morrowind :P, I've been reading some articles, and as it says in Morrowind:Vampires, the Mages Guild and House Telvanni members will still talk to you as a vampire. So since Aryon is part of House Telvanni I think that he will still talk to you, so I guess that you can do the quest. --S'drassa T2M 15:27, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Hope so, only problem is that he keeps giving the wrong greeting, Do you know where on here I could find a way to get rid of vampirism without doing the quest ?--TheAlbinoOrc 15:33, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
I think that you can only cure it "normally" doing the quest, but as I said my knowledge about Morrowind is very limited. Or, if you are on the PC, you can use the console to "cure" it. --S'drassa T2M 15:41, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
That's what I was wondering where's the command for it I can't seem to find it on the Morrowind: Console page ?--TheAlbinoOrc 15:44, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Oops found it, thanks for the help S'drassa.--TheAlbinoOrc 15:50, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
