Tovisa wants help at Northwind Mine. The Reachmen have taken over the mine and we need to find out why.

Quick Walkthrough

1. (Optional) Wear the Northwind Disguise given by Tovisa.
2. Investigate the camp.
3. Talk to Tovisa.
4. Infiltrate Alona's Sanctum and take the Northwind Mine key.
5. Talk to Tovisa.
6. Talk to Prisoner Gnarled-Root.
7. (Optional) Intimidate her for the ward.
8. Find and talk to Tovisa.

Detailed Walkthrough

Tovisa, a member of the Companions, will come out of invisibility to speak to you when you walks around the outskirts of Northwind Mine. She needs help in figuring out why the Reachmen have taken over the mine. She disguises herself as a peasant and lets herself get captured to infiltrate the camp while she asks you to investigate the camp for information. She also gives you a Northwind Clan disguise to make the task easier. As with other disguise involved quests, do not wander too close to a sentry (those enemies walking around with torches) even when wearing the disguise to avoid being detected. Also, if you lose your current disguise, a new one may be looted from dead Stonetalon mobs.

There are three specific objects that you are supposed to investigate. The nearest one is a cart behind Alona's Sanctum. Next is a Hagraven Totem to the westernmost area of the camp. Last is a book on a table in the building towards the center of the camp. All clues hint towards the Reachmen being associated with Hagravens. Head to the enclosure where the captive miners are being held and report your findings to Tovisa.

Tovisa will ask you to intervene with what the Reachmen are doing by infiltrating the mine. The key to which is inside Alona's Sanctum. She plans on warning Vigrod and will give you the key to the sanctum. Enter the sanctum right south of Tovisa where you will be met by Heiress Alona and a Stonetalon Witchman who were appearing to be communicating with spirits at the moment of your entrance. Kill both of them and take the key from the nearby chest.

Return outside and talk to Prisoner Gnarled Root in the now-empty enclosure. She will tell you that all of the prisoners besides her have been taken to be murdered in the mines. If you have unlocked the Intimidating Presence passive from the Fighters Guild skill line, you will be able to intimidate her for a ward that will hide you from Hagravens.

Inside the mine, just past a few Stonetalon enemies, Tovisa will be found with a piece of cloth covering her eyes. It turns out that she was drugged and the Hagraven took her eyes. This conversation will end the quest and begin the succeeding one, Breaking the Coven.
