Karthwasten, sometimes called Karthwasten Hall, is a small mining town in Skyrim, near the borders of Hammerfell and High Rock. In the year 4E 201 the settlement was owned by the Reachman Ainethach, notably making it one of the last properties in the Reach to be owned by a native Reachman. Recently the town's mines have attracted the prying eyes of Markarth's corrupt Silver-Blood family, who have sent mercenaries to attempt to strong-arm the owner of the town into selling.
