Skooma Dealers are randomly encountered merchants. There is a 20% chance they will appear as a male Argonian, Bosmer, Khajiit, or Orc, and a 20% chance they will appear as a female Orc. When you encounter them, their display name will be their race.
The dealer wears a roughspun tunic, along with leveled heavy boots and leveled heavy gauntlets (both up to Daedric in quality). They always carry six bottles of skooma, three samples of moon sugar, two bottles of sleeping tree sap, and at least twenty gold. In a fight, they will consume the bottles of Sleeping Tree Sap to stay alive.
If you approach the dealer they will say, "Greetings, brother/sister. You look weary. I have something to help you relax, if you're interested." (if they are an Argonian, Bosmer or Orc), or else "This one has something sweet for the fellow traveler, if it entices." (if they are a Khajiit). If you ask them to elaborate, they will explain "The finest skooma, the sweetest moon sugar. At a fair price, of course." If you intimidate them and are successful, they will hand you the skooma, saying "No need to get so... hostile. Just take it. Sounds like you need it more than I do." If you are unsuccessful they will respond with "Yeah... That's not going to happen," which results in them turning hostile. Similarly, questioning the legality of their actions results in a response of "Ah, a snitch, eh? Can't have you running to any guards now, can I?" and them turning hostile. If you remain civil and just say no, they will be diplomatic in response "Each has their own way," and you can leave without hostilities. If you bought any items from them they may say "Nice doing business with you, friend," when you leave.
Notes
- Skooma dealers are members of the warrior class, which determines the level of their skills.
- They may mine ore veins if found nearby.
- You can yield to a hostile skooma dealer by sheathing your weapons. After this, trading with them is still possible, but not asking what they are talking about, so you cannot provoke them to attack you again.
