Hern with Dawnguard installed
Hern is a Nord lumberjack who owns and operates the Half-Moon Mill with his wife, Hert. They are both secretly vampires; however, unlike Hert, Hern's vampirism is noticeable. Strangely, he will not use Vampiric Drain in combat. He is one of the targets of the Dark Brotherhood, and will not appear until the quest to kill him is started.
With the Dawnguard add-on, his appearance changes, showing his condition as a vampire.
