Dragonhead Point

Dragonhead Point is a curious rock formation of the Boethian Mountains, which evokes the giant petrified head and spine of a dragon.

It stands at the point where the river draining Lake Boethiah itself drains into the Padomaic Ocean.

Favana Selethi, the clothier in Alt Bosara will tell you the legend of how the structure was formed. It says that there was once a huge dragon that roamed the lands, together with her small child. This was in the time that the Telvanni were still a small lesser House. One Telvanni, a curious, yet immensely powerful sorceress named Favara wanted to experiment with dragonscales. She decided to carry out, and succeeded with, the abduction of the dragon's child. The great dragon could not find her child and was overwhelmed with grief. She lay down in the water and simply stayed there, hoping for the return of her child. Eventually she died and, over the course of ages, turned to stone.

Other people have different theories. Varasi Vaerin claims that "With my Alterational skills I assembled the stones and with my Illusional skills I smoothed out the rough edges to the eye. Grand artists create great things, and I am a grand artist." Vinryon Sendal also claims to have built it, simply having carved the shape of a dragon from a mountain with his sword. Masalmalu Mendas disagrees, and claims that her parents told her it was a Dunmeri-created landmark, built to provide guidance to the Ships and Riverstriders, and that her family supposedly helped transport the stones to aid in its creation centuries ago. Dilavesa Indalen believes it's the place where a Dragon ate the wrong berries and turned to stone, while Fedura Sendal believes it's an illusion durable enough to last through the ages. Atherios Adirion claims that "Long ago there was an evil and destructive dragon that roamed these lands. It had already slain countless warriors of the other Great Houses. One man, however, a Telvanni spellsword with an unknown name, was different from the rest. In an epic and heroic battle he succeeded at decapitating the mighty beast. The headless body crashed into the sea creating the peninsula seen today. And the head, magically situated into its current position, was turned to stone."

Fevras Beran pours water on all the theories, however, and simply says "It's just a pile of stones that happens to be shaped like a dragon, no fancy legends or anything like that. And besides, if it really was that special, we'd be getting tourists here. At least that would generate some commerce."
