Absolon is an odd member of the Mages Guild, as he is the only living Redguard in the guild, on the Mainland or on Vvardenfell. Still, Absolon is an experienced mage and the current highest level trainer in Destruction, Alteration in the mainland, and is the only trainer in Illusion in the mainland. He is also an expert on the summoning of creatures and that is why one of the objectives in the quest about the Herne's Soul is to deliver a soul gem to him. When you do, he will tell you: "Hmm? So this soul gem contains the soul of a summoned herne? I thought that such a thing was impossible. Very well, I shall try to establish the method used to summon this daedra. Thank you for bringing me this."
