Due to the fact it is in ruins during the events of Dragonborn I have changed 'is a massive fortress' to 'was a massive fortress' as, in its state in 4E 201 I do not believe it can still be classed as a fortress.

The village of the {{Lore Link|Skaal}} lies to the east over the {{Lore Link|Isild River}}. Besides the front door, the castle may also be accessed by an underwater entrance. It used to be the home of the mythical {{Lore Link|Frost Giant|frost giant}} {{Lore Link|Karstaag}}, as well as his {{Lore Link|Riekling}} servants and many {{Lore Link|Grahl}}s. In {{Year|3E 427}}, Karstaag was taken from the castle by [[Lore:Hircine|Hircine]] and forced to take part in his Hunt, as part of the {{Lore Link|Bloodmoon Prophecy}}.
