was an ancient stronghold of the Blades located high in the Jerall Mountains near Bruma. It is one of the most dramatic remaining examples of Akaviri architecture.

Built by Reman Cyrodiil's Akaviri Dragonguard at the founding of the Second Empire, it served as their headquarters. Even as they became known as the Blades, the Emperor's agents continued to occupy Cloud Ruler Temple until the end of the Third Era. Legend has it the swords of those slain protecting the Dragonborn were hung within the Great Hall of the temple. The archives of the temple were believed to have been the primary repository of the oldest Blades lore.<noinclude>

The temple was almost lost in 2E 582, during Molag Bal's attempted Planemeld. A Dark Anchor was opened above the stronghold and the entire fortress was lifted out of the ground, to be transported to Bal's realm of Coldharbour. The Planemeld was ended by a Tamrielic invasion force, who entered Coldharbour and successfully destroyed the Planar Vortex with the aid of Meridia.Events of ESO

Following the assassination of Uriel Septim VII and his heirs in 3E 433, his bastard son Martin was brought to Cloud Ruler Temple by the Blades for protection against the forces of Mehrunes Dagon. While at the temple, Martin and the Hero of Kvatch worked towards retrieving the Amulet of Kings from the Mythic Dawn, eventually opening a portal to Gaiar Alata in the Great Hall.Events of Oblivion Following Martin's death at the conclusion of the Oblivion Crisis, the Blades fortified themselves deep within Cloud Ruler Temple, waiting for a new Dragonborn to emerge when they would be called upon again.

The Thalmor laid siege to Cloud Ruler Temple during the Great War in the Fourth Era. It was considered a prime target due to the Blades having led several sabotage missions in the Aldmeri Dominion, such as the Falinesti Incident. Its archives were mostly destroyed during the siege, though a lone agent, Acilius Bolar, survived the attack and fled to Skyrim.
