== ''' ''Foreword'' ''' ==

In 1067, Emperor Areldir the Conqueror died by an assassin's blade. Three heirs to his great empire were presented: Emanaril, Duke of Alinor, General Tevelilor, head of the Army, and Carandil, nephew of the Emperor. This sparked rebellion in Areldir's Empire -- the Fifth Empire of Cyrodiil. Behind King Carandil was High Rock -- which came to encompass Hammerfell in 888, following the Conflict of Illiac Bay -- and Skyrim, which was under King Orgnelt V, son of Ragnar. Behind King Emanaril was Cyrodiil -- which he himself ruled -- and northern Morrowind, which he had conquered. And with King Tevelilor was the Summerset Isle and Valenwood. Elsweyr and Black Marsh remained outside of the reach of any true known ruler.

And in 1069, tensions had spiked, and war was upon the land.

== The Breakout of War ==

In the Summer of 1069, the War of Division began. In Cyrodiil, Crown Prince Irlav was put to death by order of King Emanaril; his brother, Prince Lerian and sister Princess Gia were forced to flee to the Kingdom of Carandil, where they found refuge in his court. King Aldos and Crown Prince Drovelas were hunted down, but both escaped, though to where no one knows for sure.

Outraged, King Tevelilor invaded and burned Anvil to the ground, and proceeded to Ionith and Skingrad until he was stopped in Water's Edge in 1071 by Emanaril's forces. The defeated King routed into the Great Forest and sent for an alliance with King Carandil. In Spring 1072, the answer was given bythe King himself -- at the head of an army. The two forces marched on Chorrol in late Spring, and in Summer it was taken. King Enanaril realized his defeat and, surrendering Cyrodiil to the invaders -- fled to Morrowind, which had come under his control in its entirety.

The alliance, though sweet. was short-lived, however, for in the Winter, King Tevelilor I perished in an act of betrayal by King Carandil. However his son, Crown Prince Tevelilor II, took Ionith, Anvil, Skingrad, Bravil, and Leyawiin before Carandial could. The Imperial City became an independent city-state. The War raged on.

== The End of Emanaril and His Empire ==

In 1073, King Aldos returned to Morrowind and struck a decisive blow to King Emanaril's Empire.
