#REDIRECIONAMENTO <noinclude>{{Lore Factions Trail}}[[Image:Valenwood map Oblivion.jpg|thumb|right|[[Lore:Valenwood|Valenwood]], the realm over which the Camoran Dynastyruled]]</noinclude>The {{Lore Link|Camoran Dynasty}} was an aristocratic dynasty that ruled [[Lore:Valenwood|Valenwood]]for much of its history.{{Ref|name=PGE1|{{Cite book|PGE|1|Aldmeri Dominion}}}} One of the earliest known dynasties in {{Lore Link|Tamriel}}, its founding by King {{Lore Link|Eplear}} is an event traditionally regarded as the beginning of {{Year|1E 0|Year Zero}} of the {{Lore Link|First Era}}.{{Ref|name=BTAOM|{{Cite book|Before the Ages of Man}}}}{{Ref|name=PGE3V|{{Cite book|PGE|3|Valenwood}}}} Eplear's success in uniting the inherently wild {{Lore Link|Bosmer}} has been argued to be one of the greatest military feats in Tamriel's history. The Camorans remained in power for centuries afterwards, even resisting the aggressive expansion of the {{Lore Link|Alessian Empire}}, until Valenwood was conquered by the {{Lore Link|Second Empire}} in {{Year|1E 2714}} following years of unrelenting warfare and the devastation of the {{Lore Link|Thrassian Plague}}. The Camoran Dynasty survived, but the Empire broke its influence by granting independence to Valenwood's lesser nobles.{{Ref|name=PGE3V}} When the Second Empire fell in {{Year|2E 430}}, the Camorans unsuccessfully attempted to reestablish their reign, but Valenwood's territories had drifted too far apart culturally to be united and the region descended into conflict.{{Ref|name=PGE3V}} Valenwood would briefly achieve unity under Camoran rule only twice during the {{Lore Link|Interregnum}}, and then only as a member of the first and second {{Lore Link|Aldmeri Dominion}}s. At the time of the first Aldmeri Dominion in the Sixth Century of the {{Lore Link|Second Era}}, {{Lore Link|Aeradan Camoran}} was crowned king and joined the Dominion to defend his realm against encroaching {{Lore Link|Colovian}}s in the north.{{Ref|name=AUAAD1|[http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/news/post/2012/12/10/ask-us-anything-aldmeri-dominion-part-1 Ask Us Anything: Aldmeri Dominion (Part 1)]}} A dispute over the succession between the Camoran heirs in {{Year|2E 830}} led to the intervention of the {{Lore Link|Altmer}} and the crowning of {{Lore Link|Camoran Anaxemes}}, who pledged fealty to the king of {{Lore Link|Alinor (city)|Alinor}} and thereby ushered in the second Dominion. Anaxemes was then forced to cede much of his power to the {{Lore Link|Thalmor}}, a congress of Bosmeri chieftans and Altmeri diplomats who proved modestly effective until {{Lore Link|Tiber Septim}} swept them away.{{Ref|name=PGE1}} Under the {{Lore Link|Third Empire}}, the Camorans retained the throne of Valenwood as figurehead monarchs.{{Ref|name=PGE3V}} The year {{Year|3E 249}} saw another dispute arise over the Camoran succession, a dispute which soon escalated into a massive war that threatened the whole of the Empire. One claimant to the throne, {{Lore Link|Camoran Kaltos}}, conquered most of Valenwood in two years with the aid of {{Lore Link|Haymon Camoran}}, also called Haymon Hart-King, another claimant and Kaltos's chief advisor and sorcerer.{{Ref|name=TR|{{Cite book|The Refugees}}}}{{Ref|name=TFOTU|{{Cite book|The Fall of the Usurper}}}} Against Kaltos's wishes, however, Haymon declared war on the people of Colovia and marched his armies north.{{Ref|name=TR}} Kaltos pleaded with Haymon to return to Valenwood, but Haymon betrayed him and claimed the Camoran throne for himself, thus becoming the Camoran Usurper.{{Ref|name=TR}} The Usurper's armies ravaged western Tamriel for nearly twenty years, driving through {{Lore Link|Hammerfell}} all the way to {{Lore Link|High Rock}} while Kaltos unsuccessfully fought to stop him.{{Ref|{{Cite book|Brief History of the Empire}}}} At last the Principality of {{Lore Link|Dwynnen}} marshaled the other city-states of High Rock and joined forces with Camoran Kaltos to defeat the Camoran Usurper at the {{Lore Link|Battle of Firewaves}};{{Ref|name=TFOTU}} Haymon Hart-King was killed in the battle.{{Ref|name=TR}}<noinclude> ==Notes==*The Camoran Usurper reportedly fathered an illegitimate son named Mankar who was born just prior to his defeat.{{Ref|name=TR}} This son shared the same name as {{Lore Link|Mankar Camoran}}, an Altmer who led the {{Lore Link|Mythic Dawn}} cult, suggesting both are the same individual. Since both the Usurper and his mistress were Bosmer, however, this is unlikely. ==References==<references/></noinclude>
