{{cleanup|This article requires updating to reflect current needs. --[[User:JR|JR]] ([[User talk:JR|talk]]) 04:09, 20 February 2013 (GMT)}}

This lists a wide range of specific projects and types of projects that editors have identified as needed. For more general ideas about what to do, see the [[UESPWiki:Helping Out|Helping Out]] page. Official projects can be found on the [[UESPWiki:Projects|Projects]] page.

All editors are welcome to add ideas or work on any idea listed here. Any task that is not crossed out is available for anyone to tackle. [[#Instructions|More details]] on how to add tasks to this list, or how to sign up to do a task, are provided at the bottom of the page.

In many cases, the task descriptions are pretty brief. If you'd like more information on any task, just ask on the [[UESPWiki Talk:Task List|help page]]. And don't worry, asking about a task doesn't mean you have to do it!
{{TOCright}}
==General==
All tasks on the [[UESPWiki:Helping Out|Helping Out]] page, especially:
;[[:Category:Pages Needing Descriptions|Pages Needing Descriptions]]: Any pages listed here are probably empty pages, that need any basic information filled out.
;[[:Category:Pages Needing Cleanup|Pages Needing Cleanup]]: All these pages need improving in some way.
;[[:Category:Pages Needing Verification|Pages Needing Verification]]: These pages have questionable information that requires research. If you are familiar with Creation Kit, you can help other editors with their [[UESPWiki:Creation Kit Information Requests|requests]].
;[[:Category:Questions Needing Answers|Questions Needing Answers]]: Many questions are asked on talk pages and the answers would improve the wiki.
;[[:Category:Pages Needing Images|Create screenshots]]: Every quest, place, NPC, creature, flower, etc. needs a high-quality image. This task is mainly confined to PC players, but there is some high-end tech allowing console players to help out. Additionally you can help other editors with their [[UESPWiki:Image Requests|requests]].
A full list of pages requiring maintenance can be found [[:Category:Needs Maintenance|here]].

==[[Online:Online|Online]]==
* [[UESPWiki:Online Quest Project|Online Quest Project]] — A large project to complete all quest pages in the Elder Scrolls Online
* Fill in content on [[:Category:Online Empty Pages|Empty Pages]] and then remove the [[Template:Minimal|Minimal]] template so that the page is removed from the category.
* Remove the [[Template:Pre-Release|Pre-Release]] tags from pages after checking that the facts presented in the article match the information in the released game. A list of pages that have the Pre-Release tag can be found on the relevant category page [[:Category:Online Pages Needing Verification|here]] and also [[Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Pre-Release|here]].
* Fill in content on [[:Category:Online Stubs|Online Stubs]], including those for [[:Category:Online Class Stubs|classes]], [[:Category:Online Creature Stubs|creatures]], [[:Category:Online Effect Stubs|effects]], [[:Category:Online Faction Stubs|factions]], [[:Category:Online Item Stubs|items]], [[:Category:Online Magic Stubs|magic]], [[:Category:Online NPC Stubs|NPCs]], [[:Category:Online Place Stubs|places]], [[:Category:Online Quest Stubs|quests]], and [[:Category:Online Skill Stubs|skills]]. When the page is no longer a [[UESPWiki:Stub|stub]], remove the {{tl|stub}} template so that the page is removed from the category.
* Create screenshots. Every quest, place, NPC, creature, flower, etc. will need an image (see [[:Category:Online Pages Needing Images|category]]). However, screenshots will also be needed for many aspects of basic gameplay.
* Following a [[Online:Patch|major update]], ensure all affected pages are addressed (based on the patch notes):
** Pages which need to be updated with new information should be marked for {{tl|Cleanup}} with a corresponding reason (eg: ''Needs to be updated following changes in [[Online:Patch/1.6.5|Update 6]].'').
** Pages detailing content which has been removed should be marked as {{tl|Deprecated}} with the corresponding Patch or Update number.

==[[Skyrim:Skyrim|Skyrim]]==
* [[UESPWiki:Skyrim_Quest_Redesign_Project|Skyrim Quest Redesign Project]] - a huge collaborative effort to get all quest pages up to standards.
* [[UESPWiki:Skyrim Houses Redesign Project|Skyrim Houses Redesign Project]] - a huge collaborative effort to get all house pages up to standards.
* Expand upon Shadowmark information in location pages' notes with details on why the mark is there, if possible: what is the loot/danger/etc? See [[SR:Amren's House]] and [[SR:Heimskr's House]] for examples. A list of locations is available at [[Skyrim:Thieves Guild (faction)#Shadowmarks]].

Ongoing high priorities include:
* Fill in content on [[:Category:Skyrim_Stubs|Skyrim Stubs]], including those for [[:Category:Skyrim_Creature_Stubs|creatures]], [[:Category:Skyrim_NPC_Stubs|NPCs]], [[:Category:Skyrim_Place_Stubs|places]], and [[:Category:Skyrim_Quest_Stubs|quests]]. When the page is no longer a [[UESPWiki:Stub|stub]], remove the {{tl|stub}} template so that the page is removed from the category.

Specifically for PC players:
* Create maps. We'll need maps for every zone in every dungeon, and maps for each town and city—which are basically just multiple screenshots cobbled together into a single map. Maps should be generated without any superimposed markup/icons/etc. as these can be added by templates on the site, leaving the map available for other uses if necessary. For more detail on how to do that, see [[UESPWiki:Skyrim Map Design#Interior Maps|the tutorial]].
* Go through the fix lists for the [http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/Unofficial%20Skyrim%20Patch%20Version%20History.html USKP], [http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/Unofficial%20Dawnguard%20Patch%20Version%20History.html Dawnguard], [http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/Unofficial%20Hearthfire%20Patch%20Version%20History.html Hearthfire], and [http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/Unofficial%20Dragonborn%20Patch%20Version%20History.html Dragonborn] Unofficial Patches to mark (or add) article bug notes as fixed, along with the correct version number and tracker ID.
* Compile a list of locations where [[SR:Random Encounters|Random Encounters]] can occur, using the [[SR:console|console]] to reach the cells where they occur. Where the cells are and where in the cells the encounters can occur is the information wanted. The project is located [[User:Velyanthe/Sandbox3|here]].

==[[Oblivion:Oblivion|Oblivion]]==
* The '''[[UESPWiki:Oblivion Places Redesign Project|Oblivion Places Redesign Project]]''' is a major effort to update all the place articles and maps in Oblivion. The project page provides more details on all the different tasks that need to be done.
** The main task that needs to be done at this point is the [[UESPWiki:Oblivion Places Redesign Project#In-Game Verification|in game verification]] (exploring the places in-game to check that the articles are correct and complete).
** A list of places that need to be verified is provided at [[:Category:Oblivion Places Redesign Pages Needing Cleanup]].
* The '''[[UESPWiki:Oblivion NPC Redesign Project|Oblivion NPC Redesign Project]]''' is an effort to update all the NPC articles in Oblivion. The project page provides more details.
**Contributions have been slowing down for quite a while, so I am adding this to try to speed this up. It is nearing completion, and it will be nice to finish it completely.
* The '''[[UESPWiki:Oblivion Houses Redesign Project|Oblivion Houses Redesign Project]]''' is an effort to create new, standardized pages for each individual house in Oblivion. More details can be found on the project page.
* Add links to the pages for each [[Oblivion:Attributes|attribute]] linking to items that boost the skill. It should probably point to the [[Oblivion:Generic Magic Apparel|Generic Magic Apparel]] page and also list unique items with the effect individually.
*We have new pages for the individual Mages and Fighters [[ob:Guild Halls|Guild Halls]]. "What Links Here" for each guild's page needs to be combed through, to see if any of the links should instead be pointing to a guild hall page.
* The [[Oblivion:Mankar Camoran's Paradise|Mankar Camoran's Paradise]] page needs to be expanded. ''I call this... it'll take me a little bit hence the note here.'' <sub>[[Special:Contributions/Vulpa|¿]]</sub>[[User:Vulpa|<b><font color="FF4500">V</font><font color="FF8C00">u</font><font color="FFA500">l</font><font color="FFD700">p</font><font color="FFFF00">a</font></b>]]<sup>[[User talk:Vulpa|?]]</sup> 00:52, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

===[[Shivering:Shivering Isles|Shivering Isles]]===
*The '''[[UESPWiki:Shivering Isles Redesign Project‎|Shivering Isles Redesign Project‎]]''' is a major effort to update all pages within the Shivering Isles namespace to high standards of quality.
*All appropriate categories need adding to creature redirects.

==[[Morrowind:Morrowind|Morrowind]]==
*The [[UESPWiki:Morrowind Overhaul Project|Morrowind Overhaul Project]]‎ is a major effort to update all pages within the Morrowind, Tribunal and Bloodmoon namespaces to high standards of quality.
* House & Faction articles need factual checking and re-writes for the Lore section
* Some Places and People need to be added to Lore namespace
* Cleanup the various pages listed at [[Morrowind:Services]], [[Morrowind:Merchants]], and [[:Category:Morrowind-Services]]
** Services page should include links to the [[Morrowind:Merchants|Merchants]] page and all merchant sub-pages.
** Should merchants be separated into a separate sub-section on the services page? (So it's easier to recognize that the page covers more than just merchants?)
** Clean up redundant articles. Are [[Morrowind:Alchemist]] and [[Morrowind:Alchemy Merchants]] both necessary, for example? If they are, make sure they both link to each other (and other related articles, such as [[Morrowind:Restocking Alchemy Merchants]]). If not, merge them.
** See discussion at [[Morrowind talk:Services]].
* <s>Rewards / Disposition / Reputation changes need to include information for when quests aren't completed in the "obvious" manner: see [[Morrowind talk:Writ for Tirer Belvayn]] for an example.</s> New [[UESPWiki:Morrowind Quest Results Project|project]] created for this task.
* Lists of NPCs required for quests other than the main quest, in the style of [[Morrowind:Essential NPCs]].
* Leveled lists for creatures.
* Images for ingredients for most ingredient pages as detailed [[User:Jeancey/To Do List#Morrowind Ingredient Images Project|here]].

===Tribunal===
* ''(no current tasks)''

===Bloodmoon===
* ''(no current tasks)''

==Lore==
* Expand the [[Lore:Places]] pages.
** Pages that are transcluded into the Lore Places pages need more consistent formatting: only a paragraph or two of the very general information should ever be transcluded; any maps/images should be small and left-aligned. If there is more information, a link should be provided to direct readers to the full page for the details. For example, see [[Lore:Hammerfell]].
* Expand the People pages too. What's left can be used as a list of articles that either need creating, or including on the Places/People pages as Linkable Entries.
* In general with the Lore pages:
** Make sure entries on all pages are linkable entries so that cross-links and redirects are possible
** Introduce standard formatting
** Add links from Lore pages to game-specific pages. Whenever there is a game-specific page on the same topic, there should be parameter in the infobox: "<nowiki>|appears=[[Oblivion:Oblivion-specific-page|Oblivion]]</nowiki>."
** Conversely, add links from game-specific pages to the Lore pages where appropriate. In particular, if the Lore pages contain information that is not being displayed/transcluded on the game-specific pages, then there should be a link to let readers know that the Lore page exists and contains more general information on the topic.
* The [[Lore:Ayleidoon|Ayleid Language]] page needs a revamp.
** Use a common stem for words rather than including all known forms (e.g. Arpen, Arpena, Arpenia)
** Find references for all the remaining words

==Books==
* Create, expand, and improve [[Books:The Infernal City|The Infernal City]] and [[Books:Lord of Souls|Lord of Souls]] articles.
* Clean up and expand game guide articles.

==Mobile Games==
* [[Shadowkey:Shadowkey|Shadowkey]] pages have been created, but more input from people who have played the game is needed.
* [[Stormhold:Stormhold|Stormhold]] pages have been partially created, but still lack info.
* [[Dawnstar:Dawnstar|Dawnstar]] pages have been created but could use some more input from people and cross-checking of the written information.
* [[OBMobile:Oblivion Mobile|Oblivion Mobile]] quest and equipment pages have been created but cross-checking would be useful. Could use pages with world information.

==Older Games==
* '''[[UESPWiki:Spin-off Series Completion Project|Spin-off Series Completion Project]]''': A project dedicated to finally completing documentation of the spin-off series games: [[Battlespire:Battlespire|Battlespire]], [[Redguard:Redguard|Redguard]], and the [[:TES Travels|mobile games]] [[Stormhold:Stormhold|Stormhold]], [[Dawnstar:Dawnstar|Dawnstar]], [[Shadowkey:Shadowkey|Shadowkey]], and [[OBMobile:Oblivion Mobile|Oblivion Mobile]].
* Check the '''{{Old Link|label=old site}}''' for pages that need to be wikified
** Lists of all the pages on the old site are posted at [[UESPWiki:Old UESP Files]] and its subpages. These lists need to be completed with information on whether or not the page contents have been copied over to the wiki.
** Most content from the pre-wiki version of the UESP site have been converted over, but not all.
** [[UESPWiki:Converting Old Pages|Converting Old Pages]] provides tips on how to move pages over
* '''[[UESPWiki:Daggerfall Redesign Project|Daggerfall Redesign Project]]''': A project has been started to standardize the format of the Daggerfall pages; see the project page for details.
* Remove '''attributions''' from pre-wiki pages
** Move any attribution from the old site to talk pages or to the page history.
* [[Arena:Running Under Windows]] -- Contains a lot of old information (which may be somewhat useful still) but is missing the last year or so of tips (many threads from the ES-Old Games forums are related to this). Ideally this section should be split into several different pages:
** Running Old Games Under Windows
** Game specific pages for Arena, Daggerfall, etc...
* [[Daggerfall:Running under Windows]] contains one up-to-date method but doesn't cover the others.
* Make the Lore sections better for Daggerfall and Arena characters.
* [[Battlespire:Battlespire|Battlespire]] - See the current list of ideas at [[Battlespire talk:Battlespire#Redesign|this location]].
* [[Redguard:Redguard|Redguard]] - Every NPC article needs complete dialogue and a detailed introduction. Many passive creatures have no section on [[Redguard:Creatures]] and several hostile ones require expansion. Place pages should be created for every building with an interior, and thoroughly describe everything interesting inside. A few exterior places like Stros M'Kai itself are not documented either. Most importantly, [[Redguard:First Time Players]] and [[Redguard:Hints]] should be reworked to not be secondary quest walkthroughs and actually contain useful information.

==[[TES3Mod:Main Page|TES3Mod]]==
* Mainly includes cleaning up and expanding the [[TES3Mod:Tamriel Rebuilt/Cities & Towns|Tamriel Rebuilt city pages]].

==Site Tasks==
* Template documentation needs to be brought into line with the [[UESPWiki:Community Portal/Archive 15#Template_Documentation|new standards]].
** I'm going to start working on this, however it may take a while. [[User:AlphaAbsol|AlphaAbsol]] ([[User talk:AlphaAbsol|talk]]) 09:21, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
The following tasks are more advanced and likely require a good deal of effort and knowledge in web technologies.
* Design a system for handling file uploads similar to other ES sites. See [[UESPWiki:File_Database_Design| File Database Design]] page for Daveh's ideas on the system. While this is a lower priority task, [[User_talk:Daveh|contact Daveh]] if you're interested in working on this.

==Instructions==
===Working on a Task===
# Look through the list and see if anything appeals to you
# If you can't figure out what a task means or if you're not sure how to do it, ask on [[UESPWiki Talk:Task List|the talk page]].
# Once you've picked something you would like to work on, mark that you're working on it. Put your name under the task to let other editors know that someone is working on it, e.g. add <code><nowiki>** Being worked on! --~~~~</nowiki></code>.
# If it's a one-person task, you may also want to cross it out (place <code><nowiki><s></nowiki></code> at the start of the line, and <code><nowiki></s></nowiki></code> at the end of the line) so other editors know to not work on it.
# When you've finished, delete the task from this page.

===Adding a Task===
Any editor can add a task to the page: if there's something that you think needs to be done on the site, add it! If you're not sure about your idea or would like feedback, add it to the [[UESPWiki Talk:Task List|talk page]] and ask for other editors to provide their opinion.
# Check whether this is the best place to add your idea
#* This page is supposed to list specific ideas for projects that editors can work on; more general to-do information is at [[UESPWiki:Helping Out]]
#* This page is not for tasks that require [[UESPWiki:Administrators|administrative]] privileges; those requests should be added to the [[UESPWiki:Administrator Noticeboard|Administrator Noticeboard]].
#* Don't add tasks that you are planning on tackling in the near future (i.e., next week or so); this is supposed to be for tasks that are available for other editors to work on.
#* This is not the place to ask questions (try the [[UESPWiki:Reference Desk|Reference Desk]]), or make minor suggestions about improving a single page (put the suggestions on the article's talk page).
#* If in doubt, just go ahead and add it. Another editor might move it to a more appropriate place, but it's much better to add the idea so others know about it than to delay adding it because you're not sure where to put it.
# Add a description of the task in the appropriate section.
# (Optional) Add more detailed information on the following lines.
#* If you're able to take the time to fully describe the task, that would be great, and will make it easier for other editors to know what needs to be done
#* If, on the other hand, you just want to quickly add an idea, just provide a basic description (enough so that an experienced editor can probably fill in the details). In that case try to monitor this page and its talk page so that you can provide details if someone is interested in the idea.
