While Rayya was appointed as the personal housecarl to Varg at his Lakeview Manor estate, he cannot remember the last time he actually saw her. Whether she is simply wandering the grounds and he hasn't consciously noticed her, she attended him elsewhere and he left her there, or she was killed some time ago and this was obscured by the passage of time is completely unknown.
On a related note, one of Varg's stewards is very much deceased. [[Skyrim:Marcurio|Marcurio]] was hired by Varg to the position of steward for his estate in [[Skyrim:The_Pale|the Pale]], [[Skyrim:Heljarchen_Hall|Heljarchen Hall]]. However, he became bugged and would neither enter the building nor take orders regarding his appointed duties.
