Ulves Romoran is the Dunmer cook of Tel Mithryn, working for Neloth. He can be found in the Tel Mithryn Kitchen.
Ulves wears some farm clothes and a pair of boots. He wields an iron war axe, and carries a key and a small amount of gold.
Initially, he can be found mindlessly working on the Sun Stone twenty-four hours a day. After the stone is cleansed, he'll then head back to Tel Mithryn. He'll now spend all of his time cooking in the kitchen, stopping only to sleep from 10pm to 6am.
Once you free him, he'll say, "Oh dear. Why am I out here? I need to get back and make Master Neloth's tea." and "This is just dreadful. Dreadful." If you talk to him in his awakened state, he'll complain about his cooking conditions, saying, "Damnable ash! No matter how much I wash the food, it still gets in it." and "I hope you're not expecting a meal. I've barely got enough for them that live here." He'll also reflect on his previous state, saying, "Still can't figure out why I was working on that damned pillar." While Varona Nelas is still steward, he may also say, "I'd better tell Varona to bring apples and cabbage from Raven Rock."
During the quest Reluctant Steward, while you're searching for Varona, you can ask him if he's seen her, to which he'll reply, "Is it tea time already? Well, Neloth's just going to have to wait. Varona went to Raven Rock to arrange for supplies." As you exit conversation, he'll say, "The Raven Rock road is dangerous. I hope nothing happened to Varona." After you find Varona dead, you can break the news to him, to which he'll say, "Dead? Truly? Oh, Varona. She didn't deserve this. This is a dark day for Tel Mithryn. Go tell Master Neloth. When I'm done here, I'll prepare her grave." After the quest, he'll say, "I can't believe Varona is dead." During Old Friends, if you ask him about Ildari, he'll say, "Ildari? She was a beauty, she was. I tried to court her, but she had no interest in me. She was only interested in magic and power. She died in some experiment Master Neloth did on her. He claimed she wanted him to."
Before Varona dies, he can be seen having the following conversations with her:
Varona: "Where is your list of things you need from Raven Rock?"
Ulves: "I would have had it ready, but Master Neloth wanted his meal early."
Varona: "Well I can't wait forever. Master Neloth keeps asking if I have his soul gems yet."
Ulves: "Well you'll just have to wait. Last time I brought his meal up late he asked if I wanted to be a part of one of his experiments."
Ulves: "If you're here about the canis root tea, it's almost ready."
Varona: "I don't know how he drinks that stuff."
Ulves: "At least you don't have to taste every time to see if it's brewed right."
