Filament and Filigree is an area of Hermaeus Mora's plane of Oblivion, Apocrypha. There is only one zone in the area, namely Filament and Filigree.
The Black Book needed to access Filament and Filigree is found inside Kolbjorn Barrow. You must complete the quest Unearthed in order to retrieve the book.
The realm is inhabited by Daedra called Seekers and Lurkers. Tentacles constantly breach the acidic dark waters and sometimes whip at you, causing a significant amount of damage if they manage to hit you. The acidic waters with the tentacles are also corrosive and cause damage if stepped in.

Filament and Filigree
Filament and Filigree opens on a dimly lit vestibule facing a dark corridor. The darkness here is dangerous, literally; entering it will inflict continuous heavy damage which can not be resisted any means, including the Become Ethereal shout. Floating lamps drift above the platforms, providing safe havens of light to walk in. Other forms of light will also work to prevent damage (e.g. torches, Candlelight, Magelight), so long as they keep away the darkness. Ahead and to the right is a table and a font of magicka. On the table are two random soul gems, and a copy of the Sneak skill book Three Thieves.
There is a set of stairs just to the left that leads to a closed gate. The scrye to open it is to the right, and on the left is a pod and a scroll of invisibility. An eye floats along to the right of the long platform, but does not provide full protection from the darkness. Along the platform are two seekers and a lurker, and a lurker spawns from the pool at the top of the stairs at the other end. At the top of stairs after that is the black book Filament and Filigree, and loot. The loot contains copies of the Spell Tome: Healing Hands and the Spell Tome: Conjure Seeker (only if your conjuration is above level 40), a scroll of mass paralysis, three soul gems (one black and two random), and a vessel. To exit this part of Apocrypha, use the non-circular part of the black book.
The three powers offered by this book are:
- Secret of Strength — Power attacks cost no stamina for 30 seconds.
- Secret of Arcana — Spells cost no magicka for 30 seconds.
- Secret of Protection — You take half damage for 30 seconds.
