Lainlyn was a barony in western Hammerfell, on the eastern bank of the Iliac Bay. It existed in the late Third Era, as well as in the early Second Era.. It had a southern border with the Dragontail Mountains, eastern borders with Kozanset and Totambu, and a northeastern border with Satakalaam. The main deity of this region was Julianos. The official military force of Lainlyn was the Host of the Horn. Sometime before 3E 405, a rival group, Knights of the True Horn, was created to overthrow Baron Shrike of Lainlyn, but they were defeated and scattered; one of the remnant groups later founded the Castle Battlehorn in the Colovian Highlands of Cyrodiil. In ancient times, Lainlyn was home to many other races, notably elves and Bretons. The provincial seat was the eponymous city of Lainlyn.
Riglametha, a local festival, is celebrated on the twelfth of Heartfire every year in Lainlyn as a celebration of the province's many blessings. Pageants are held on such themes as the Ghraewaj, when the Daedra worshippers in Lainlyn were transformed into harpies for their blasphemy. Lainlyn is indeed troubled by Harpies. According to some reports, Lainlyn's population of harpies is the largest in the Iliac Bay. Many efforts have been made in the past to defeat them, but nothing has been effective enough to reduce the nuisance they cause.
After the Warp in the West, Lainlyn came under the dominion of Sentinel.
